Thank You
I would like to thank the Dalby Regional coummunity for their overwhelming support in the recent local government elections. I will be working hard to to promote my policies through council and to attend to the important issues promptly.
To the many who went out of their way to support my campaign, I would like to extend my sincere thanks. If I haven’t already thanked you in person, I hope to soon.
My Priority Issues
Achieving unity and co-operation within the new regional council
With six local councils amalgamated into a single council, we need unity from the beginning. I guarantee to support all people within the previous shires of Dalby, Wambo, Tara, Murilla and Chinchilla and Division 2 of Taroom Shire Council. My first priority remains to change the existing name of the Dalby Regional Council to a more appropriate name which represents the whole region. This may take some time to achieve, but we plan to initiate it’s implementation as soon as possible.
Keeping a sustainable rural industry while also supporting the future and current energy boom
With agriculture being a major component of the new region’s economy, it is essential that its current rate of growth continues in a sustainable way. As the energy boom within the region continues, it is vital that we support and encourage its positive effect on the area.
Maintaining and upgrading community services such as youth programs and aged care facilities
To maintain the future of our region, youth programs and aged care facilities must not only be maintained, but upgraded to provide the services that are essential to the whole community.
To foresee the improvement of mobile phone coverage, internet access, electricity and roads
Communication and transportation have become vital in the current day and age, however these services must continually be improved and upgraded as new technology becomes available.
To encourage the implementation of a major waste management area
By addressing the issue of waste throughout the region, the total environmental and economic impact can be drastically reduced. Through the continuation of a major waste management area this problem will be eliminated and recycling enhanced.
To promote the utilisation of coal seam waste water
The drought has taken a major toll on the working families of the Dalby Regional Council so the protection of our current water is paramount. The use of coal seam waste water is an excellent way to boost our water supplies.
To consult with local residents on future projects and issues
As an elected representative of the wider community, I will be constantly consulting with local residents regarding their concerns and noting their comments on future projects, and issues that impact on their communities.
To maintain the current infrastructure and planning already in place by the previous shires
By amalgamating the previous shires into one, there is a huge amount of infrastructure available to a greater majority of the population. I will be utilising this by maintaining and upgrading the services already in place, as well as those currently in planning.
I call upon all residents of the new Dalby Regional Council to offer their support to reduce the impact of these amalgamation changes.
